Description
This is a hand made longstitch binding, it is sewn with linen thread directly into the leather cover. It does not use any adhesive, allowing it to open completely flat for maximum use of the pages.
This form of binding originates from Germany and dates back to the late 14th Century. Sections of parchment or paper were sewn directly through holes in the covering material, giving support to the spine, and flexibility to the book.
These handmade renditions have a fold-over cover to protect the foredge and a variety of covering material and papers for different uses.
